In 1963, the first Sting Ray hit the American sports car market with great success. Production increased by 50 percent for the all new Corvette. The '63 featured a choice of four engines, three transmissions, and six axle ratios. The 327 V-8 was offered in carbureted form with 250, 300, or 340 hp. By adding fuel injection, the 327 developed a whopping 360 hp. and ran 0-60 mph in 5.8 sec. with a quarter-mile time of 14.5 sec. at 102 mph.The Sting Ray was a well-developed, refined sports car and proved a winner on the show room, on the streets, and on the race track. The 1963 Split Window Coupe was truly in a class of its own, and was the first in a legendary series of great Sting Ray dream cars.
