Allis-Chalmers Model WD 1948-1953 (14"x17")

In 1948, the Allis-Chalmers Company introduced the Model WD with several new innovations. The power of the engine was used to adjust the rear wheel tread by spiral bars on the rim to 10 different spacings; a new hydraulic system was developed to control mounted and pulled implements; and a second clutch was added, which permitted continuous operation of the power takeoff and hydraulic system, independent of tractor movement. The WD was to become one of the most popular tractors in the Allis-Chalmers line and with the improvements of the WD45, became a major force in the farming industry for the next 10 years.
