International Harvester introduced the 806 in 1963. This new tractor design featured a heavy-duty transmission with an optional Torque-Amplifier which offered 16 forward and 8 reverse speeds. The all new hydraulic system, fully hydrostatic power steering, and self-adjusting hydraulic power brakes made it easy to handle this big tractor. An independent PTO was an option available in a choice of single or duel shaft units. The 806 used a C-301 six-cylinder engine for the gasoline and LPG-powered tractors. The diesel version featured the new D-361 six-cylinder direct start diesel engine which produced over 94 PTO horse power. This tractor also featured a new seat design located ahead of the rear axle to offer a smother ride and better forward visibility. The 806 was very popular and IH made over 50,000 before production ended in 1967.
