John Deere Model D 1923-1953 (14"x17")

Production of the John Deere Model D began in 1923. American farmers enthusiastically welcomed this tractor because of its dependable power, ease of operation, and its low operating cost. Capable of handling a three or four bottom plow, the Model D was fitted with a rugged two-cylinder engine and rated at 27 hp on the belt pully and 15 hp on the drawbar. Simplicity of design with few moving parts allowed farmers to service this tractor right on the farm. The two-cylinder engine could produce ample power on almost any low-cost fuel and this was a big advantage to farmers during the depression of the 1930s. The Model D was a light weight tractor designed to handle heavy farm jobs easier, faster and more economically. It received widespread acceptance during its 30 year production run and was eventually used all over the world.
